Mountain Weather
In summer, the mountaintop is often 8–10° cooler than below. In fall, it’s typically 10° or more cooler, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Layers are recommended.
Plan Ahead
Please arrive with at least a quarter tank of gas. The nearest gas station or convenience store is about 15 minutes away.
Directions
There are 2 ways to drive up the mountain.
One route is fully paved, and the other is partially unpaved.
You won't need a 4x4 or SUV to get to Cabin Heaven.
⚠️ Please avoid US-74. Any other route you're fine!

Video Instructions

Cabin Heaven - Directions to our Mountain Wedding Venue in WNC
📹 duration: 2 minutes
Driving up through Gerton
As mentioned before, we strongly discourage using: US 74 ALT East (usually coming from Asheville passing through Gerton). The Hickory Nut Gorge is a very active Hurricane Helene recovery area.
Google Maps sometimes offer a shortcut to save you 2 minutes but it's not worth it.

A significant portion of the road is gravel. Choose our safest option.
Here’s a fun little visual aid we made to help you see which routes are the best!

We hope the link (visual aid) above and the videos will help you on your way to Cabin Heaven.
*Please note: If you get lost, our cabin is 5 minutes before you get to "Grand Highlands" (there are signs posted along the way).
